New Web­site

Hello every­one and wel­come to my new web­site here at deanhall.com. Now that I’ve finally switched over to Word­Press, most con­tent will be posted on here in a few weeks.

What’s Up?

I know it’s been a while since there’s been any­thing new on the site, but I took a tem­po­rary break from play­ing my orig­i­nal music live.  I’ve always loved the blues, and through the years have logged many a mile with my band, The Loose Eels. But other than song­writ­ing,  poetry, and the occa­sional cover-gig, I’ve been on input for a while. The same-ole-same-ole was begin­ning to get a bit unful­fill­ing. By that, I seem to have come to this rev­e­la­tion: although per­form­ing live is immensely reward­ing, I felt my song­writ­ing should reflect my views about life; what is impor­tant to me and makes me get out of bed in the morn­ing. So, dur­ing this interim, I’ve gone back to school in pur­suit of enlight­en­ment and elu­ci­da­tion in phi­los­o­phy, poetry, reli­gion, and civil rights. A Socratic process of intro­spec­tion — if you will.  Although I took a  break from per­form­ing, the song­writ­ing never stopped. My new-found expres­sion and thought per­me­ates the lyrics and songs in my next CD. I’m excited to bring you a fresh new show.

New CD

Speak­ing of a new CD — it’s almost fin­ished.  It will be a col­lec­tion of songs that I’ve been record­ing over the last sev­eral years. It’s been a slow but reward­ing process; fuss­ing over every note and word to get them to con­vey exactly what I’m try­ing to say. The final drum-tracking ses­sion on June 11th was a great suc­cess. I’m look­ing to fin­ish back­ground vocals and Ham­mond B-3 at the end of this month. Then, finally, I’ll be down to the mix­ing stage.
