Dean Hall: I’m Back!
Hello everyone and welcome to my new website here at deanhall.com. Now that I’ve finally switched over to WordPress, most content will be posted on here in a few weeks.
I know it’s been a while since there’s been anything new on the site, but I took a temporary break from playing my original music live. I’ve always loved the blues, and through the years have logged many a mile with my band, The Loose Eels. But other than songwriting, poetry, and the occasional cover-gig, I’ve been on input for a while. The same-ole-same-ole was beginning to get a bit unfulfilling. By that, I seem to have come to this revelation: although performing live is immensely rewarding, I felt my songwriting should reflect my views about life; what is important to me and makes me get out of bed in the morning. So, during this interim, I’ve gone back to school in pursuit of enlightenment and elucidation in philosophy, poetry, religion, and civil rights. A Socratic process of introspection — if you will. Although I took a break from performing, the songwriting never stopped. My new-found expression and thought permeates the lyrics and songs in my next CD. I’m excited to bring you a fresh new show.
Speaking of a new CD — it’s almost finished. It will be a collection of songs that I’ve been recording over the last several years. It’s been a slow but rewarding process; fussing over every note and word to get them to convey exactly what I’m trying to say. The final drum-tracking session on June 11th was a great success. I’m looking to finish background vocals and Hammond B-3 at the end of this month. Then, finally, I’ll be down to the mixing stage.
New Videos, Poetry and Stories
I’ve posted a lot of video under the video tab. It’s a collection of shows that were shot over the last few years that I had lying around.
Also, check out all my poetry and short stories under the navigation tabs up top or click here for the latest poems. More of that is on the way. You can also sign up for email updates to my blog posts in the nav-bar to the right.
Hope to see you all soon.
