Black Sun

black-sun
My wife, Carol, and I wrote this dark little song a few years back. This song emerged from channeling some Edgar Allan Poe as well as English conspirator and poet Chidiock Tichborne.  Tichborne’s Elegy is one of three poems he wrote to his wife the night before his execution.  Tichborne was executed for his involvement in a Catholic plot to murder Queen Elizabeth.

The photo is from one of my paintings called Black Sun.  The photo in the SoundCloud insert is from one of my mother’s paintings. She was an amazing artist and sculptor.

Take me to the river set my poor heart free
Take me to the river so I can set my poor heart free
Throw me and these chains in that cold deep water
So I can rest in peace
