Lyrics — Cold Hard Rain

Late one night the clouds were rolling in
I said some things to her that couldn’t be taken back again
When she walked out I knew I’d never be the same
She left me there after a Cold Hard Rain

So I fell hard into the deepest end
I didn’t give a damn about anyone or anything
So I hurt some man just to ease my pain
Now I’m behind these bars after a Cold Hard Rain

I die a little most every day
I pray a little but nothing ever seems to change
And I try sometimes to forget that day
But that feeling comes back every Cold Hard Rain

I count the stones inside my cell
They’re like my thoughts in my mind that I know too well
These walls can talk and they know I’m to blame
As I stare out these bars into a Cold Hard Rain

I die a little most every day
I pray a little but nothing ever seems to change
And I try sometimes to forget that day
But that feeling comes back every Cold Hard Rain

A few more years and I’ll be finally free
The winds have changed and the storm’s gone out to sea
I may smile but I’ll never be the same
Just like a rose after a Cold Hard Rain

I die a little most every day
I pray a little but nothing ever seems to change
And I try sometimes to forget that day
But that feeling comes back every Cold Hard Rain

It’s been some time since I’ve paid the price
Even the simplest things seem like paradise
Outside those walls now it sure feels strange
To close my eyes and still feel that Cold Hard Rain

I die a little most every day
I pray a little but nothing ever seems to change
And I try sometimes to forget that day
But that feeling comes back every Cold Hard Rain
