The Clerk

The clerk seemed quite concerned about my stay—
I worried that the shower wouldn’t work.
He said, “I’m here to serve in any way.”

I paid and took the key and walked away.
He said, “A room so fine it comes with perks.”
The clerk seemed quite concerned about my stay.

I opened up the curtains to the bay;
The phone it rang — to my surprise the clerk,
He said, “I’m here to serve in any way.”

I couldn’t think of anything to say
But finally said, “I’m sorry I was curt.”
The clerk seemed quite concerned about my stay.

The shower wasn’t great but still ok;
His words inside my head began to lurk.
He said, “I’m here to serve in any way.”

The bay it looks so lonely through the pane;
The sun is gone that washed away the hurt.
The clerk seemed quite concerned about my stay
He said, “I’m here to serve in any way.”
